We know you may have many questions in the lead up to pregnancy, or during pregnancy, especially during times of challenge. Our team are here to support you, whatever your journey. Individual consultations allow you time to seek expert clinical advice and understand more about your diagnosis and treatment options.
Pregnancy Consultations
Pregnancy consultations are an opportunity to discuss complex pregnancy challenges and abnormal ultrasound results, to provide advice and work collaboratively with your doctor or midwife and plan a way forward. Your doctor or midwife may suggest a Maternal Fetal Medicine consultation, or you may request to book a consultation with one of our Specialists. These one-off consultations are ideal if you have a high-risk pregnancy due to a medical condition or previous or current pregnancy complication.
Please note we do not provide antenatal care throughout your pregnancy, instead these consultations are sought to assist your doctor/midwife in the ongoing management of your pregnancy.
Genetic Counselling
Genetic counselling is suitable if your genetic screening tests have indicated the strong possibility of genetic conditions being passed onto your unborn child/children or you have a family history you would like to discuss. Our Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists offer counselling to support you in your decision making and provide you support at this difficult time.
Miscarriage and Pregnancy Loss
Losing a pregnancy can be a devastating loss. Our expert team are here to work collaboratively with your doctor or midwife to navigate this difficult journey, looking after your own health and discuss how to manage any future pregnancy. Our team also understand that navigating future pregnancies after a loss can be a very anxious time. Our Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists provide pre-pregnancy and early pregnancy counselling, along with more regular ultrasounds during your pregnancy, to monitor the health and wellbeing of your baby right up to birth.
Each consultation does have an out-of-pocket expense, part of which can be claimed from Medicare. Please contact our friendly reception staff for more information.
